They say you can't judge a book by its cover... But I'm sure the same is true for Albums. For as long as I can remember,
I've been thumboing through boxes at Garage sales and thrift stores buying records, having never heard of, let alone hear,
some of the artists and songs... What I was looking for was interesting, kitchy, silly... Some of the best are included
below.
  | Having Fun With Elvis on Stage- A Talking Only Album c.
1974 RCA Records R001 This album is made up of Elvis' banter with the crowd between songs at concerts in the early
70s... No singing at all. Elvis is definitely under the influence here. Rumor has it that this useless album was put out
because Elvis was too f***ed up to fulfill his obligation to RCA for a certain number of albums. They put this out because
anything with Elvis' name would sell.

| All in the Family plus BONUS TRACKS
c. 1971 Atlantic Records R002 This album has the show's theme song --with special lyrics only heard in the first
season... And subsequently dubbed over for syndication--, The Piano end theme-- with Meathead's live studio audience
voiceover--, and audio from the TV show in between. A special booklet was enclosed... I don't have the booklet. Bonus
tracks:
from Atlantic single: A ragtime style rendering of the "Those were the Days" theme with O Connor and Stapleton from A&M
Records: Carroll O'Connors attempt at singing "for real." Four songs are: Last Night When We Were Young Can't We Talk
It over
Sweet And Lovely Remembering You

| Evel Knievel
c. 1974 Transcontinent Records R003 While it contains two songs, this album is basically an Evel Knievel Press
conference, and then Evel chatting with some school kids. Its awfully bad.... Definitely one for your collection!

| The Muppet Movie
c. 1979 Atlantic The Muppet Show c. 1977 Arista Records R006 Two albums on one CD. To my knowledge, much to
my chagrin, The Muppet Movie Soundtrack has never been re-released on CD. Since it is indeed a great collection of music,
I've dubbed the rather crusty record I have to CD. The Muppet Show record is rather crusty, too... But again, it's such a
good listen, its worth a few pops and clicks here and there. Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the box seats, have an
ongoing commentary throughout. I love those guys! All of the music is really top quality... I highly recommend this as a
road trip CD.

Centennial Dance Party- Walter Ostanek c. 1967 Arc Sound Limited
Mix It Up- Krew Brothers Orchestra c. Steljo Records PLUS BONUS TRACKS
R007 Two albums on one CD. Walter Ostanek, Canada's Polka King, released this album on the hundredth anniversary of
Canada's birth as a nation. Canadian Polka at its finest. I don't have the cover for this one. Favorites on this one include
The Happy Birthday Polka, and the Mexican Hat Dance Polka. I don't have the cover for the Krew Brothers, either... But
this Buffalo band's classic THE BUFFALO POLKA is included here. I used to play this Friday nights on WBEN at 10:59pm to close
out One on One Sports with the Bulldog. Instant classics also include Lollipop and Proud Mary. Side two of this album is
pretty crunchy audio-wise, but its still a keeper.
The Bonus tracks are two polka 45s... One from the Buffalo High Notes has the St. Catharines Oberek backed with the Utica
Polka... This Polka Tone recording could have been done in a bathroom. Its tinny, and the lyrics are unintelligible because
they singers are poorly mic'ed. The Utica Polka is an instrumental, despite having a vocal credit on the label. But that's
what makes polka great! The Second from Davey Dave on EPIC backs Little Polish Boy with South Side Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. This song is done in a very thick put-on Polish Accent, and is about a steel factory strike. A Classic!

| By A Waterfall- Frank Olsen c. Frank Olsen
Niagara Falls Symphonette- Carton Finch c. Century Records
R008 Two albums on one CD.
The Magestic waterfall on the Niagara River has inspired much over the years... Including these two albums of organ music.
By A Waterfall was purportedly recorded in a Niagara Falls, Ontario, Home... It's too bad the microphone was in Guelph.
It's too bad... because this is a classic organ recital. Still a good listen when it's not popping. The organ used here was
a full sized two manual 7 rank Wurlitzer that a couple installed in their home, by removing a floor in an upstairs bedroom,
creating an 11x11x17 chamber. The Niagara Falls Symphonette is introduced by Mrs. Laura C. Lapp, who had a regular show
on WHLD Niagara Falls. The organ used by Carlton Finch to record this beaut was in the Riveria Theatre in North Tonawanda.
This first side of this album has the Symphonette... With 12 movements... Each inspired a different aspect of the Falls and
its surroundings. Both recordings conjure up some deeply recessed memory... I can remember walking around somewhere as a
very young child hearing poorly recorded organ music piped in as we walked around. Was it Niagara Falls? Was it Crystal Beach
or Fantasy Island? I don't know, but I think more places should pipe in Music from the mighty Wurlitzer. As an aside,
both of these albums were still wrapped in plastic when I received them. I could very easily see an elderly polish couple
listening to these albums on a couch covered in plastic, on the Hi-Fi they just bought from Lucki-Urban.

 | The Impossible Dream c. 1967 WHDH Radio plus BONUS
TRACKS! R009 This is the fantastic story af the unlikely 1967 AL Champion Boston Red Sox. Ken Coleman narrates... Its
interspersed with actual Play-by-play cuts and interviews. A personal highlight for me is WHDH morning man Jess Cain's CARL
YASTRZEMSKI SONG, sung to the tune of HALLELUJAH. Bonus tracks off of 45... it's of cross-town WBZ morning man CARL de
SUZE singing his "Soliloquy on the Twist"... the second BONUS TRACK is the instrumental version.
|

| Celtics Pride c. 1976 WBZ Radio/Fleetwood Records plus BONUS
TRACKS! R010 Johnny Most narrates the story of the 1976 World Championship Celtics. Great cheeseball 70's music
bridges try to give an NFL Films feel... Great Johnny Most calls... and A&P commercials to begin and end the program.
Bonus tracks off of 45... it's of WBZ morning man CARL de SUZE singing his "Soliloquy on the Twist"... the second BONUS
TRACK is the instrumental version.
|
  | Ted Knight: Hi Guys! c. 1975 Ranwood Records R011 This album was
used quite a bit by shock jocks Opie and Anthony... Ted Knight recorded this album as Ted Baxter... It's fabulous, especially
if you know any shallow, cheap broadcaster types such as I most certainly do!
|
  | You Be A Disc Jockey: U B A D J! c. 1962 Cameo Records R012 Cheesy
over the top Disc jockey Don Bruce does his normal disc jockey show on side 1. On side two, the same show, but with Don
Bruces parts empty...You get to be the DJ! This album is enough to make you vomit. It's FANTASTIC!
|
  | Bob & Ray Ask: What Ever Happened to the Hard
Sell? c. 1966 Bob & Ray and the Radio Advertising Bureau R013 A very funny album comprised of Bob and Ray bits,
commercials, and PSAs crafted into a 40 minute program extolling the virtue of advertising on radio. There are Bob and Ray
Radio shows in the airchecks portion of staffannouncer.com.
|

| *Schony: Jim Schoenfeld c. January Records R014 Jim Schoenfeld
"sings" the classics. This album was recorded at the height of his popularity as a member of the Buffalo Sabres. When Jim
visited Buffalo several years ago as the coach of the Phoenix Coyotes, I asked him at the game day skate about this album. I
think its safe to say he would prefer that every copy of this album might melt in a fire... So just in case that happens,
I've dubbed it to CD.

| LA Airforce Cheap Radio Thrills Vols I-IV c. 1977 Terry
Moss R0015, R00016, R00017, R00018 This is a radio classic. These are the drops and beds that kept many stations alive
through the late 70s, 80s and into the 90s... They have recently been repackaged on CD, but don't include many of the
INCREDIBLE 70s synth music beds. These music beds would have sounded right at home on any game show that was giving away
Turtle Wax, Dazey Easy Fryers, and High Karate Gift Sets. Also not included on the newer CDs are many of the "futuristic"
computer effects. The re-release CDs contain the great bits that stand the test of time. These records contain EVERYTHING...
Its all highly entertaining.

|

Golden Winners from WKBW "KB Classics" c. 1961 Capitol Records plus BONUS TRACKS! R0026 To my knowledge, this
is the first on many albums of current hits (KB KLASSICS) that KB had attached it's name to over the years. Pictured on the
cover are Freddie Klestine, Dan Neaverth, Jay Nelson, Jack Kelly, Doug James, Bob Diamond, Tom Shannon. There are airchecks
from this era of KB in the Aircheck section of staffannouncer.com. Bonus tracks include:
Tom Shannon Theme:The Graduates Rats in My Room: With Joey and Danny The Joey Theme: The Four Seasons
|
 | Mickey Mouse Disco c. 1979 Disneyland Records Sesame Street
Fever c. 1978 Childrens Television Workshop R0027
Both Disney and CTW hopped on the Saturday Night Fever gravy train and produced disco albums about and starring Mickey,
Grover, Donald, and Ernie. The disco cover art is worth the price of admission.
